The number is share of model: across repeated runs of a fixed buyer-question set, the share of AI answers in which your company is named, per engine, with a confidence interval and a capture date. It is not a rank and it is not a traffic figure. Finding out costs an hour and no money -- the free teardown returns a dated baseline and the raw runs. What changes if you act is narrower than this category's marketing suggests: better-answered pages and third-party coverage move citation share over months, not weeks, and nobody can guarantee a position, because no engine publishes its selection rule. The decision this number supports is a single one -- whether buyers in your category are already being pre-filtered by assistants before they reach you.

Why this brief stops where it does

The answer above is capped at 150 words, and that cap is recorded in the registry the page is built from rather than left to a writer's judgement. An executive summary that runs long has failed its reader. Everything below is optional depth for whoever has to implement the decision, and none of it changes the answer above. If you read nothing else, read the cap: a measurement business that cannot state its finding in 150 words probably does not have one.

What the number is, exactly

Share of model is the share of AI answers naming you, across a fixed prompt set run repeatedly against each engine. Citation share is the share of URLs those answers cite that belong to your domain. Both are reported per engine, because the engines disagree with each other more than most vendors admit, and an average across them hides the disagreement that matters. Every figure is dated at capture and carried with an interval. A figure without both is not a measurement, and we do not publish one.

What it costs

The first measurement is free and requires no call. Published prices for ongoing work are on the pricing page rather than typed here, so that a page cannot quietly disagree with the catalogue it is describing. The larger cost is usually not the fee: it is the writing and publishing work the measurement points at, which lands on a team you already have. If the baseline says your category is not being answered by assistants yet, the correct spend is zero, and we will tell you that.

What changes if you act

Over months, pages that answer buyer questions directly and coverage on sites other than your own tend to raise citation share -- third-party pages are cited substantially more often than brand-owned ones, which is the single most consistent finding in this space. Over weeks, expect nothing separable from variance. The risk of acting is a quarter of content work that moves a number you were not tracking before. The risk of not acting is that the assistants settle on a shortlist of your competitors and the default hardens while you are not looking.

What counts as proof for this reader

One number with its as-of and its interval, the cost of the gap, and the decision it implies -- in under 150 words.

No figure is quoted on this page. The measured figures live where their runs, intervals and capture dates live: the AI Visibility Index and the methodology.
